We are delighted to welcome children to our Nursery, a bright, inviting space designed to inspire curiosity and creativity. With its own dedicated facility including separate bathroom facilities and direct access to a safe, enclosed playground, our Nursery encourages learning both indoors and outdoors. Children can attend full days, mornings, afternoons, or a flexible combination to suit your family’s needs.

In our happy and nurturing environment, your child will feel safe, valued, and supported as they develop the confidence to explore, experiment, and take risks. Small class sizes and excellent staff-to-child ratios mean that every child receives the attention and guidance they need to grow and thrive.

Our curriculum blends adult-led and child-initiated activities, with plenty of opportunities for free play so children can follow their own interests and shape their learning journey. We offer a broad and balanced programme covering all seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, with specialist teaching in music, drama, French, PE, and swimming. Our wonderful school grounds are extensive and including the woodland area Dingley Dell, the Adventure Playground, and the school garden and allotments all providing endless opportunities for exploration and discovery.

Nursery children also enjoy socialising with Pre-Prep children during the day, sharing playtimes, and joining them for a freshly made, nutritious hot lunch in our dining room.

FAQs

What will happen on my child’s first day at Nursery?

You will be greeted by our Nursery teacher as you arrive who will run through the drop off routine with you (signing in, unpacking bags etc). We find most children settle quickly, but appreciate this can be difficult for both parties sometimes. Please communicate any concerns you have in advance so that we can make arrangements to accommodate them.

What will my child be given to eat during the day?

We are very aware of the need to promote ‘healthy eating’. Nutritious lunches are provided by our school’s catering team, ensuring a healthy balance of sweet and savoury, as well as encouraging children to try new tastes and textures. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided each day, with milk on offer to drink in the mornings if children would like it. Water is readily available at all times throughout the day for anyone who is thirsty.

My child has a special diet. Can this be catered for?

Yes – Chafyn Godolphin caters for a wide range of allergies and specific diets.

Can my child still have a nap after lunch?

Yes – we have a number of options available to children to enable this.

What will happen if my child becomes ill during the day?

Our on-site medical matrons are available to assist with any child who is taken ill during the day. Parents will be contacted should they need to go home. Children are asked to remain at home for 48 hours following any sickness or diarrhoea.

What qualifications do staff have?

Our Nursery staff are qualified at level 3 or above. In addition, all Early Years staff hold full Paediatric First Aid qualifications and Food Safety & Hygiene qualifications, as well as being up-to-date with safeguarding training.

How do you communicate with parents?

We see most parents/carers at the beginnings and ends of days and these regular, informal meetings enable us to chat to you about how your child is getting on and to deal with any questions quickly and easily. Our fortnightly Pre-Prep newsletter gives details of some of the activities the children have been up to, as well as providing information about upcoming events, and parents can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We have two scheduled Parents’ Meetings during the academic year, providing an opportunity for us to get together to review your child’s learning and progress. All staff are contactable by email and additional meeting can be arranged if you would like them.

What government funding is available?

In partnership with Wiltshire County Council, Chafyn Godolphin offers the Funded Early Education (FEE) grant. This is available up to a maximum of 15 hours per week, for six terms, from the term after a child’s third birthday. Our funded hours are provided in the mornings between 8.30am and 11.30am. Parents/carers may also use the Tax Free Childcare to access funding.

Can I adjust the sessions I have arranged?

Of course. We are happy to make changes and additions wherever possible (subject to availability).

Do I have to wait for an Open Day to visit?

No – every day is an Open Day. If you would like to visit outside of our termly ‘’Open Days’ or ‘Stay & Play’ days, please contact the school office to arrange a date and time.
