The annual Interhouse Performing Arts Competition once again provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to showcase their creativity, teamwork and performance skills in a day packed with energy, imagination and entertainment.

Throughout the day, Sixth Form students took the lead in creating their performances from scratch. Working against the clock, they choreographed dances, rehearsed songs, developed scripts and brought their ideas to life before taking to the stage in front of their peers.

Each House was assigned an influential figure from Chafyn Godolphin’s history as the inspiration for their performance. Hamilton explored the story of Elizabeth Godolphin, who founded the school 300 years ago and whose legacy was celebrated during the Godolphin 300 anniversary year. Douglas brought Mary Douglas, the namesake of Douglas House, to life, while Methuen told the story of renowned author Minette Walters, after whom Walters House, the Sixth Form Centre, is named. Drawing on these historical connections, pupils created imaginative performances that blended fact with creativity, offering fresh and entertaining interpretations of each figure’s story.

The audience was treated to an impressive variety of storytelling styles, from heartfelt moments to plenty of humour. One particularly memorable performance even transformed the Founders’ Ball into the setting for a dramatic horror story, proving that our pupils are never short of imagination!

The standard across all three Houses was outstanding, with every participant demonstrating enthusiasm, confidence and a willingness to embrace the challenge. The performances reflected hours of collaboration and dedication, all achieved within a single day.

Congratulations to our category winners:
