As the new school year got underway, our Year 7 pupils headed off to Linkenholt for 3 days of adventure, teamwork and making memories with their new year group.
It has been particularly lovely to see some of last year’s Year 6 pupils finding their feet in Senior School and getting stuck into the Senior School way of life. Their time at Linkenholt provided the perfect opportunity to begin this next chapter together, strengthening existing friendships while forming plenty of new ones.
A much-loved trip from our Prep calendar, the Linkenholt experience has now been carried forward into the Senior School curriculum, providing an important opportunity for pupils to spend time together away from the classroom at the very beginning of their Senior School journey.
The pupils took part in a range of hands-on activities such as orienteering, map skills and navigation, shelter building and learning to cook on open fires. Team-building challenges encouraged the pupils to work together, support one another and, most importantly, get to know their new classmates. By the end of the trip, the year group had really bonded and returned to school with plenty of stories to tell, happy memories made and, perhaps, ready for a good night’s sleep!
Trips and expeditions form an important part of the Chafyn Godolphin experience. Opportunities begin in Pre-Prep and build towards pupils’ first overnight stays in Year 3. Residential experiences then develop throughout their time in Prep, helping children grow in confidence and independence and ensuring they are well prepared for the longer trips and expeditions that await them in Senior School.
These experiences often become some of the most memorable moments of school life. Ask our pupils years later about their favourite memories from Chafyn Godolphin, and trips away with friends will very often feature high on the list.
For our newest Year 7s, their week at Linkenholt was a fantastic way to begin the year, settle into Senior School life and start the next chapter of their Chafyn Godolphin journey.
